BookOrders exists to answer one question well: what order do I read these in?

Long-running series are genuinely confusing to start. Publication order and story chronology often disagree. Prequels arrive halfway through. Publishers renumber things between editions and territories. Covers almost never say which book is which. So every series page here lists the full run with its position number, and every author page groups their books by series so you can see the shape of a bibliography at a glance.

What is in the catalogue

Right now: 247 authors, 418 series and 13806 books. Last rebuilt August 24, 2026.

This is deliberately not every book on Amazon. A catalogue of thirty million titles with thin, half-empty pages is useless to a reader and invisible in search. We would rather cover a smaller set properly - correct order, real cover art, a description worth reading - and grow from there.

Where the data comes from

Reading order comes from Wikidata, edition details and cover art from Open Library, and author biographies from Wikipedia. All three are openly licensed. Nothing here is scraped from Amazon. The full breakdown, with licences, is on the sources page.

Why there are no prices

Because we have no licensed source for them. Amazon retired the Product Advertising API in May 2026, and its replacement is only available to accounts with a sustained sales history. Showing a scraped or remembered price would be both against Amazon's terms and actively unhelpful, since prices move daily. Follow any link to see the real, current price.

For the same reason, reader ratings shown on book pages are Open Library's, clearly labelled as such - never Amazon's.

Corrections

Reading order is the one thing this site has to get right, so a wrong order, missing book, duplicated entry or misattributed author jumps the queue. A public contact address is being set up; until then, corrections are made from the upstream catalogues on each rebuild.
